Frequently Asked Questions

How can I backup my data?
The easiest way to backup an orchard block’s data is using email. Select the orchard block you want to backup, and then use the ‘Email block data’ action. All of the orchard’s data (including configuration, tree observations and truffles harvested) will be exported as a file attachment that can be sent by email and saved. To restore the data, email the file back to the device and open in the Truffle Grower application.

How do I match a harvested truffle with its record in the processing table?
When a truffle is harvested, its location and depth are recorded and a unique id is generated by the Truffle Grower application. This id code should be kept with the truffle until you are ready to process it. We recommend placing the truffle in a zip-lock plastic bag, and making a note of the id by writing it on the bag.

Do I need weather or soil moisture stations?
No, these are not required.  As an orchard manager, you may be interested in viewing historical weather and soil moisture alongside truffle production and quality trends.  This information can be helpful when making decisions about the management of your orchard, such as frequency and duration of irrigation.

What weather and soil monitoring devices are supported?
Currently, only Davis Instruments’ Weatherlink-IP  weather and soil station devices can be integrated with Truffle Grower.
